CWS and ST to Enhance RF SOI Designs for NexGen Communication Chips

first_imgCoupling Wave Solutions and STMicroelectronics are working together to reduce time-to-market for high-performance RF silicon-on-insulator (SOI) designs. RF Designers and design managers will now be able to enhance their designs of RF SOI switches that propel the next generation cellular and Wi-Fi communication chips.SiPEX accurately models interactions between devices, back-end-of-line, and silicon on insulator (SOI) substrates enabling RF Front End Module designers to fully simulate layout and design changes in less than 15 minutes, an accomplishment not possible until now. This tool also helps simulation take into account physical effects that were only measurable on silicon in the past. This enhanced capability is fundamental to successfully designing high-performance RF SOI switches for the next generation communication chips. For the first time ever, customers with STMicroelectronics product development kits, can simulate the impact of layout geometry on RF switch losses and non-linearities (H2/H3 distortions), including active devices, metal interconnects, and substrate contributions. This design capability is empowered by the interaction of Spice models, Mentor XRC tool, and the SiPEX substrate simulation tool. This is significant because customers will now be able to design RF SOI Switches reaching a level of performance never achieved before.RF front-end components are complex to design. The right design tool is critical for STMicroelectronics RF SOI customers to close the gap between simulation and silicon measurements, and optimize the layout to achieve the best linearity in their chips. Partnering with CWS allows their customers to eliminate design re-spins and accelerate time-to-market.With the SiPEX Tool, substrate-aware RF switch simulation flow is now part of the H9 SOI FEM PDK design kit which supports RF SOI designs integrated in H9 SOI FEM technology for Cellular and Wi-Fi applications.SiPEX is available as a plug-in for generic interconnect parasitic extraction tools including Mentor Graphics’ Calibre. STMicroelectronics’ product development kits with SiPEX are available immediately.last_img read more

Mike Tyson reveals he has pals from prison who are ‘killers’ and he often pays them visits

first_imgWhile the Mike Tyson return has been hitting the headlines for past few weeks, the 53-year-old former heavyweight champion surprised his fans this week by revealing that he is still in touch with his former friends who are “criminals and killers” by now. In an episode of the Hotboxing podcast with Mike Tyson, the man himself revealed that a lot of his friends were serving lifetime prison sentences under murder charges but he often visits to the prison to meet them. Also Read | Mike Tyson return: Mike Tyson Shows Off Jacked Physique As Boxing Legend Steps Up His ReturnMike Tyson first tussled with crime as a teenager before Cus D’Amato took him under his wing and trained him to be a heavyweight boxer. However, a lot of Mike Tyson’s old friends took a different path as they took to committing crimes to earn a living. While speaking on his podcast, Mike Tyson said, “After I was locked up, I started boxing. And I said I wasn’t going to do that anymore. But I would still see my friends that I robbed with and they would still be at the club. I was still hanging out with them, watching them do that s***. I was never into it – I was doing a career and they thought ‘what the f*** is he doing hanging out with them.’ We went in two different directions. They became killers and I became a boxer. I’m happy I’m not in prison with them but I still go and visit them. They’ve got four or five life sentences, 90 years.”Also Read | Mike Tyson return: Andre Arlovski urges to become the Mike Tyson opponentAlso Read | Mike Tyson return: Shannon Briggs could posiibly  be the Mike Tyson opponentImage courtesy: Mike Tyson Twitter First Published: 25th May, 2020 16:58 IST SUBSCRIBE TO US Mike Tyson is widely regarded as the greatest boxer in the history of the sport, but ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ has had his fair share of controversies.
